Takedown and Copyright

Last updated: 17 October 2026

LuaSec hosts scripts that our customers upload and sell. We do not check every script before it is published, but we act on notices about scripts that infringe someone's rights or are otherwise illegal. This page explains how to send a notice and what happens next. It follows the notice and action rules of the EU Digital Services Act (Article 16 DSA) and covers copyright notices in the style of the US DMCA.

Where to send a notice

Email support@luasec.dev with "Takedown" in the subject line. This address is also our single point of contact for authorities and for users under Articles 11 and 12 of the DSA. You can write to us in English or German.

What a notice must contain

  1. What is illegal and why. Explain which right is infringed or which law is broken. For copyright, identify your original work, for example a link to your script, repository or asset.
  2. Where it is. The exact loader URL, script ID or other information that lets us find the script on LuaSec. A game name or a seller's name alone is usually not enough.
  3. Who you are. Your name and email address. If you act for someone else, for example as a lawyer or agent, say who you represent. You may leave out your name only if the notice concerns child sexual abuse material or another offence listed in Articles 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU.
  4. A statement of good faith. A statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your notice is accurate and complete.

We confirm receipt of each notice. Notices that are incomplete or unclear can delay our decision. We may ask you for more information.

What happens next

  • We review the notice carefully and without delay. Where we are sure the content is illegal, we disable access to the script or remove it.
  • We tell you our decision and, if the notice was rejected, why.
  • We tell the script owner which script was removed or disabled, why, and how they can respond. If we found the notice through an automated process, we say so.
  • We do not pass on your contact details to the script owner unless you agree or the law requires it, for example because a court orders it.

If your script was removed

If you are a script owner and think a removal was wrong, reply to our message or email support@luasec.dev within six months. Explain why the script is not illegal, for example because you wrote it yourself or hold a license for the code you used, and include your evidence. We review the decision, and a person who was not involved in the first decision takes the final look where we can. We restore the script if the removal was not justified. You can also go to court at any time.

Repeat infringers

If we repeatedly receive justified notices about the same script owner, we close their account.

Game developers

We often hear from developers who do not want scripts to be used in their game. A script that runs in your game is not illegal for that reason alone, and the fact that a script breaks the Roblox Terms of Use is a matter between the player, the script owner and Roblox.

A notice is valid if the script copies your own code, models, images, sounds or other protected work, or if it breaks the law in another way. Send it as described above and name your work. If you have a request that is not a legal notice, you may still send it to us. We look at these requests, but any action on them is up to us.

Notices that are clearly unfounded

If someone often sends notices that are clearly unfounded, we may stop processing their notices for a reasonable time, after a warning. Sending a notice you know to be false may also make you liable to the script owner.
